GMO Labeling Solution Bill Passes Senate
July 8th, 2016
After 30 hours of debate, the GMO labeling bill passed the senate with a 63-30 vote on July 7th around 11pm. The bill is now off to the House, which is in recess until September, for yet another vote. Vermont officials do not plan to enforce their state based GMO labeling bill, that went into effect July 1st, until 2017. A push is still needed to pass this compromised solution before the end of the year. The American Dairy Coalition commends Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) and the Senate for their commitment to ensuring farmers can continue to use sound science to produce healthy and affordable foods for the world. ADC will continue to work hard on this solution and keep you informed on developments.
